The programme combines summer evening racing with a performance by The Whistlin’ Donkeys, whose energetic sound blends traditional Irish music with Celtic rock. Their concert takes place in Champions Hall after racing, giving visitors a lively start to Irish Derby weekend.
Racing highlights
The evening’s racing programme includes the Corinthian Challenge, a special charity race supporting the Irish Injured Jockeys Fund.
Amateur riders compete to raise money for a cause closely connected with Ireland’s racing community, adding a strong charitable element to the evening. The first race is scheduled for 4:33 pm, with the Corinthian Challenge concluding the racing programme at approximately 8:30 pm.
Live performance
After the final races, The Whistlin’ Donkeys take to Champions Hall for a high-energy live performance.
Known for combining traditional Irish songs, contemporary folk and Celtic rock influences, the band provides an upbeat conclusion to the first night of the Derby Festival.
